Scenario

Devices on the guest network get an IP address and gateway, but DNS server options are blank or wrong.

Recommended Resolution Path

  1. Inspect DHCP option sets for the guest scope specifically rather than assuming defaults apply.
  2. Check vendor-specific DHCP settings if the guest network is served by a firewall or wireless controller.
  3. Capture an actual DHCP offer to confirm what the client is receiving.
  4. Retest with multiple device types so a platform-specific quirk is not mistaken for a scope-wide issue.
