Recommended Resolution Path

  1. Restore both data and ACLs when the backup product supports it.
  2. Compare ownership and inheritance with the original share path.
  3. Check whether the restore target is a temporary path with different parent permissions.
  4. Document application owners for approval before wide permission resets.
